A Day with Adrenaline, Water and So Much Fun

June 11, 2010 in Memoirs by Arun Basil Lal

If I had known that Veega Land was this close to my home, I would have gone there already. Thanks to my poor Geography, I found out that Veega Land is just 45 minutes from Perumbavoor.

So off we went, Me, Sreejith, Pattar and Hari, yesterday. Hari came to Perumbavoor, joined me and Sreejith in a bus. Hari had called Pattar that morning:

Hari: “Da, we are reaching by 10:30, come there”

Pattar: (who just woke up from his sleep): “Ok da, njan varam”

Hari: (in a mood to end the conversation): “Ok da”

Pattar: (finding back his senses): “Da, where should I come” (not knowing that we are going to Veega Land, he thought we are going to cochin)

After the conversation at Pattar’s home.

Pattar: (to his dad) “Acha, I want money to go to Veega Land”

(Someone wakes up and this is the first thing he tells his dad)

Anyways, we reached the place by 9:45 am. Pattar came by 10:20. There was nothing much to do while we waited for him, there was no scope for eve-hunting.

Entrance of Veega Land

College and School students are allowed a discount at Veega Land; they have to pay only 285 INR as against the 380 INR others have to pay on Week days. (For weekends, its 500 INR).

Since Pattar hadn’t bought his ID card, he had to pay the full fare while the three of us paid just 285. Our ID card doesn’t have the year printed, so you have to do some talking to convince them that you are still in college.

We found a locker room, changed clothes and started our day with the Balarama Cave. Ammachiye, Sharikkum Pedichu poyi (palli poyi paranja mathi).

We went through many rides, but three rides really impressed me.

1. The Monster Twister – You are tied on to a seat. The seat is lifted and is rotated in all axis you can imagine. You feel like being thrown out of it. That was the first one that I really loved.

By the time we got off, we were feeling like we saw death. I told myself that I will be a good kid from now own and we started making confessions. lol

Enikku ente ammene kananam… Njan eni vellam adikillaa… and all..

2. Space Gun – Its looks like two boats going in opposite direction. Hari and Sree stayed away from it. Me and Pattar got the front seat – the seat that is supposed to have maximum effect. It would go to the top and stay upside down there. Man, its just awesome.

3. This is what we call as Suppli ride – We get into a cart that 4 can travel and the cart goes on a rail that looks like the rail of a roler coaster. The cart was making all sorts of sounds and everyone except me got minor bruises and pains here and there.

I think some Engineer who had lots of suppli’s designed it. lol.

After all the dry rides, we had lunch then dived into water. There is a get wet zone with an arrangement to take a photo. We went there after lunch and took this photo.

Look at Pattar ;)

The we went through all the rides one after other and ended up in the Wave Pool. We played with the waves for a while and went to the Bullet rides; those rides that uses a mat. We arranged a race, but since the launch system was not perfect, we had to drop it.

After a few rides it was time for the water fall. We went to the waterfall and danced and stayed under it for a long time. Vellathil thullan nalla rasama.

Afterwards we spent a lot of time playing with the waves and I tried some swimming. I suck.

By about 5 pm, we went to the dressing area, bathed together and got dressed up and had a light snack and coffee.

Snacks

Then we went through the dry rides again starting with Balarama House. Hari didn’t have his glasses in the morning, so we took him there so that he can see it.

Then we went to CineMaya 3D. A 3D with effects so real. When there is wind on screen, they will blow air on your face. Like that. We missed the Laser show, but was lucky enough to catch the final part.

By that time it was 6 pm, we picked our bags took a couple of snaps at the gate and came home.

It was a fun filled day and quite a huge day to remember :)

Miss My College Days

June 5, 2010 in Memoirs by Arun Basil Lal

That was one heck of a farewell. I had some real nice time with the ‘conversations‘ I tried to make today.

Yesterday evening, right after the exam, I didn’t feel anything different. I didn’t even feel like I was leaving college. I had a feeling of relief that the exams got over.

I didn’t even care to say good-bye’s to my friends in other trades, Civil, Electronics etc. I didn’t realize that I am not probably gonna meet them again.

Today, its all different. After the farewell, I really feel the missing. Today was an awesome day and day that I will remember for a long time. I hope we all meet sometime really soon.

Just wrote a memoir on my personal blog, find it here: That was One Heck of a Farewell Party.
